about
One day in winter 2018 Bleedingblackwood asked Jo to remix one song of his “Record Full Of Last Songs”. Jo was a little faltering because she had never remixed a song before. When Bleedingblackwood gave her the “Boy” – which is not necessarily her favourite song – she didn't really want to engage herself in this venture. But she was so curious about how she would handle this new task that she took up the challenge.
Jo worked with the sounds of his voice only and deleted all the instrumental bits of the original song because Bleedingblackwood’s music relies heavily on his vocals. Jo strongly transformed these vocal parts by sound shaping, just like she usually works with her field recordings. The result is an intense layering of a wide range of vocal frequencies, which reveals a new, uncanny dimension of the song.
Recently Bleedingblackwood (vocals) and Jo (glasambel) perform Jo's version of this song together in exclusive live performances.
